The Columbus Piave Club is proud to announce that acclaimed big band leader and Columbus music icon Rick Brunetto has been named the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Italian Festival Parade in Columbus Ohio, to be held on Sunday, October 12, the final day of this year’s Columbus Italian Festival, which runs October 10–12 in Italian Village.

Brunetto, a beloved figure in the Central Ohio music scene and leader of the celebrated Rick Brunetto Big Band, has entertained generations with his timeless sound and dedication to preserving and revitalizing big band music. Recently retired as band director at St. Charles Preparatory School, Rick served 46 years as a music educator in Central Ohio, inspiring countless students and helping shape the region’s musical legacy. Alongside his wife, Landa Masdea-Brunetto, Rick has also been instrumental in restoring and reinvigorating the historic Valley Dale Ballroom, an iconic local landmark and cultural treasure.

"Rick Brunetto is not only a masterful musician and bandleader, but also a champion of community and culture in Columbus," said Joe Ingrassia, Marketing and Events Director for the Columbus Piave Club. "His energy, passion, and commitment to keeping our traditions alive make him an inspiring choice to lead this year’s parade."

The Italian Festival Parade is a beloved tradition that brings together marching bands, cultural organizations, local schools, and community groups in a celebration of Italian-American pride, heritage, and family. As Grand Marshal, Brunetto will lead the parade through the heart of Italian Village, joined by dignitaries, club members, and thousands of festival-goers.

Founded in 1919, the Columbus Piave Club is the oldest Italian-American social organization in Central Ohio, committed to preserving and celebrating Italian heritage through fellowship, tradition, and community events. The Columbus Italian Festival, originally launched in 1980, has grown into one of the largest and most anticipated cultural festivals in the Midwest, drawing tens of thousands each year for food, music, dance, and family-friendly fun.

Festival organizers encourage the community to attend and show support for this year’s honoree and the many groups participating in the parade.
